There’s a wide receiver for Georgia who said something so profound I just had to share.
Now keep in mind…
…he is one of the best in the nation, catches big time touchdown passes weekly.
but something interesting about him is that he is in a local book club with all middle-aged to older women.
Reading middle aged to older women book choices.
Weird.
But in an interview he was asked why?
He said something to the effect that not that long ago he was reading at a very low level for his age.
It was hard.
And he wanted to change that.
And when asked about his great accomplishments on the football field he said,
“Playing football is a natural gift, it’s easy. Reading is a much greater accomplishment because I had to work at it. ” Malcolm Mitchell
So true.
But most aren’t willing to say it.
Most who are gifted at something, or have been given some great opportunity, like to make it appear it’s something they worked hard for.
But Malcolm has the correct perspective.
And I find with teaching the Layer Method to people all over the world that they have been fooled into thinking you have to have some natural talent to play piano.
Not true.
You just need to be willing to put a little work into it.
Beethoven, in reality, probably didn’t really accomplish much. He was so natural talented that he didn’t have to work at it.
That’s like praising a fish for being a good swimmer.
But even without all the natural talent you can still experience what it’s like to play piano.
All you need is something called the Layer Method.

Takes the NOT SO naturally gifted folks and turns them into pretty good piano players.
Not Beethovens.
But very accomplished players. 😉
