So yesterday I got an email from a very annoyed guy named Paul who doesn’t get it. His words below:
“Hello- So Tim a few things I’d like to say regarding your program. I do not like getting emails from you every day or every other day as it is a real annoyance. Why is it an annoyance, because you tell me stories that have nothing to do with me. If you are going to send me emails send them about the product itself. So far I have seen not one single thing that proves to me what this product does and how it would be beneficial to me. Secondly I would never, and I mean never, learn “Amazing Grace” because all it has done is waste my time, on a song I would never play in public. It is almost the same thing as learning “Mary Had A Little Lamb”. If you had a song that you were teaching with this method that I would be proud to play publicly it would be another story as I am 54 and not interested in eating up a bunch of time on a song that really means nothing to me. I know you have to have a song for people to learn from, but I can assure you I would not put an ounce of time into a song like this.
Anyway if you are going to send me emails try sending them on the product itself, because until I see with my own eyes that it is good and beneficial since I am trying to learn keyboards I am not going to buy the product. Paul”
Let’s break this down.
So first off, Paul isn’t actually saying anything about the program. Because he hasn’t purchased it. So… what he is really talking about is what he “thinks” but not what is the truth.
Second. We live in a marvelous day and age that if you decide you don’t want to receive emails from somebody all you have to do is click a little “unsubscribe” button that is at the bottom of every email. Hate seeing you go, love watching you leave. In fact, I typically just delete folks like this because they don’t want to really learn, they just want somebody to blame for their failure.
And third and most importantly…
…he says, “I would never, and I mean never, learn “Amazing Grace” because all it has done is waste my time, on a song I would never play in public”
This is where you know he doesn’t get it.
You aren’t “learning” the song Amazing Grace, you are learning skills through songs that you can use to play any song you want.
And with the Layer Method you would have wasted a huge 10-15 (enter sarcastic tone) minutes a day for about 30 days to accomplish this. So if you hate that song then you only have to deal with it for a couple weeks. Big deal. Most people start playing what they want during this time because they already see how to do it. The piano starts to become clear and easy to understand.
But once again, when someone doesn’t get it, they don’t get it and you can’t convince people like this. Trust me, I’ve tried.
And Finally…
I share A LOT of stories about people successes with the program. Unless Paul wants me to pay for one of the thousands of students who are now playing the piano by ear with both hands to show up at his house and “PROVE” it, I am not sure what else can be done to convince a guy like this.
So the best course of action is to blacklist him and move on, working with people who “get it”.
Do you get it?
Or do you need to?
Because you can do that by going here:
