After every Module in the Layer Method program I ask for feedback.
Why?
Because it gives me insight into my students struggles, triumphs and experience.
Current Layer Method Student Judy J. had some telling words in her Module 2 feedback.
I think you may relate to her embarrassing confession.
Feedback below:

Hey Tim, My favorite AHA moment in Mod. #2 was when I got to the play along video and I was able to play and keep right in time with you. Tim I am totally embarrassed to admit this but I am in my 60’s and have taken piano lessons since a teen to about 45 on and off, 7 different teachers that I can remember.. I have played in church, recitals, and just for my enjoyment and never did I understand, or could play with confidence, or understanding, and never, never like your friend, without sheet music before me. Since your method, It is beginning to come together. Why I have never even learned chords until now. I am so excited about learning and where it will take me, even at my age. Where have you and your method been all my life. Thank you so much. Judy Johnson

Well we have been right here just waiting to pick you up out of the traditional piano teaching gutter.
Here’s why you won’t learn chords with traditional teaching…
…being able to read sheet music is more important than understanding what is going on with your hands. You see, all traditional students play chords, they just don’t think of them as chords. They are simply a combination of notes.
When you start to look at the piano, music, and songs differently then you see the value in understanding how to use chords as a building block to your piano education.
It’s still amazing to me how people, just like Judy, look to me for help. She knows much more about piano than I ever will with her years of lessons. And once she really starts to take hold of the knowledge she has and combine that with the Layer Method programs effective ways then she will be a much better player than me as well.
Alas, the teacher becomes the student.
Anyway…
…If you have taken years of lessons and are afraid there is nothing left for you to learn then you may be right.
You probably already know everything I will be teaching you.
But the real question is DO YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR KNOWLEDGE? Or are you stuck held hostage to sheet music?
Only you can answer that.
And when the answer comes back as no.. then you need to say yes to the Layer Method Of Piano.
