Yesterday we talked about chords and how they should be (for the play by ear student) a foundational component to your piano education.
So I wanted to share from Jeannine her experience over the Holidays and the secret she find out about from a “real” piano player that she hired.
Her words:

“Hi Tim Happy New Year! I had the most amazing thing happen over the holidays. I had a ‘neighborhood’ party. I wanted to make it fun, and I wasn’t good enough yet, so I hired a piano player for the evening. He was about 80ish. What a dandy he was. He played for three hours and was so much fun. He used to play in a band. So I stood by him for a while to watch him play.
I told him he played so well and with no music. He said, “We have a secret. We play only a few chords and can play almost anything.” What great confirmation of your method! Fun story! Thanks so much for all you do. Jeannine

Chords are really only a secret in the piano world.
Traditional piano teachers don’t like to acknowledge that there are “other” ways to learn to play and enjoy the piano.
Not so with the guitar world. You have people who just play guitar, and then others who are classical guitarists.
Two different methods.
Two different results.
But both have the blessing of enjoying playing.
The Layer Method of Piano is disrupting the piano teaching world by offering up another option.
Not the right way or the wrong way, just another way.
To play piano with both hands, songs you love, and be able to do that without years and years of lessons.
Haye
Pretty simple.
But only if you get started.
Which of course you can do by going here:
