Ever wondered if your finger position really matters?
David has a great question about finger placement…
His words:
“Hi Tim -I am really enjoying your Layer Method of Piano Program. Thank you!
Quick question. Over the years I have tended to use my right hand fingers 1 2 4 for most chords whatever inversion whereas you revolve around 1 3 5. Will this inhibit my progress later on? David”
Here’s the answer…
…YES and NO.
It all depends on what you want to do.
I play 1,2,4 finger placement all the time because for some reason it’s just more comfortable.
And the only place I will get into trouble is when I need to do some fancy fill or add another note on top etc…
But I usually don’t need to do this.
If you were wanting to play classical music (like Beethoven) then its really important.
But yet again, I do not ( and my students don’t either)
So it will hinder you from playing advanced stuff later.
But chances are once you start playing songs you love…
…you won’t even think about the “level” of music you are playing.
Because you will be having so much fun playing the piano it becomes irrelevant.
Make sense?
Good!
Now you can get signed up and start playing piano this year (before Valentines day for sure)
But only if you start using the Layer Method of Piano now!
