Let me tell you a story about from last year.
So Wifey was having her baby shower (due Jan 31st!) Pretty excited about that.
Anyway.
My buddy decided he was going to throw me a mini “guy” shower the same day.
I was kicked out of the house and had to do something right?
So…
…his plan was to take me pheasant hunting.
I am by no means a hunter. In fact, I have probably only hunted pheasants 5 times in my life. But I do have a hunting outfit including gun, vest, pants, etc. So I am ready to go whenever.
We get to the game farm, they ask us how many birds we want to hunt and then proceed to go place them in the field. Not real sporty for the “REAL” hunters but we were short on time, land, and dogs.
So we drive out to the field with our guide and two of the smartest dogs I had ever seen. Two German shorthair pointers.
All the sudden the two dogs just stop and point. Frozen in time. We knew there was a bird in this brush.
So, with my hear racing, standing ready, knowing a bird was going to come flying out, the guide yelled “find the bird” and the two dogs jumped in the brush.
This huge pheasant comes barreling out of there within 10 ft of me and my gun.
I take one shot.
I take two shots.
I take 3 shots.
(my buddy took 3 shots as well)
That pheasant is still out there today. Not one dent in his wing.
Come to find out, we are terrible shots.
And every time a bird would fly we would get nervous and start shooting off our back foot, not really even aiming. Just reacting. Even when we knew it was going to happen because of the great dogs we had.
So we need practice.
Practice to take a deep breath, aim, and then shoot.
It’s not that much different than playing piano in front of others.
It’s really just practice.
The more you do it…
…the more you expect the nerves and then learn how to control them. Take a deep breath and just play. Not rushing, not shaking, just playing.
A lot of birds got away that day.
But the experience of playing the piano nerve free doesn’t have to escape you.
I can show you how I got over being nervous playing the piano with the Layer Method of Piano.
Which you can get right here:
