Ever do something that you hated and wish you hadn’t started in the first place?

But then in the back of your mind you remember being told time and time again…

…”Finish what you start!”

And if you didn’t finish then you were labeled a quitter and felt bad about it.

Well, I am now starting to question that whole thought process. In fact, I am starting to question lots of things with baby PianoFool in our life now.

Why is it bad to quit?

Why can’t we just try out something without having to finish it?

What if there could be a trial period for everything?

For instance…

…my nephew is a senior this year, Is thinking about playing basketball. but isn’t sure.

And he is under the impression that if he starts the season, he must finish.

I told him to maybe look at it differently.

What if he went to the coach and said this,

“Coach, I am not sure I want to play basketball or not this year. What I propose is a trial period. I will give you 110% effort for 2 weeks (or whatever time makes sense) and then at the end of this period we will meet again and talk about whether or not I should finish the season. I will base this decision on if I can see me adding value to the team and enjoying it. You can also let me know if you don’t think you see me helping the team in anyway, etc.”

At least this way my nephew can quit with integrity versus feeling like a loser.

Or commit to finishing the season after the trial period is up.

Now, who knows whether or not the coach will go for it.

I mean…

…it’s definitely outside the box.

But great things happen outside the box.

And if you have been on the fence about trying the Layer Method of Piano program because you were scared of failing…

…then lets have the following conversation.

You: Tim, I am not sure I have the talent, time, or will to be successful at your program.
