Dear Sheet Music Reader-
It’s not too late to become the piano player you might have been.
In fact, you truly do have the ability to play whatever you want, but the sad fact is nobody has shown you how.
All those years of lessons for what?
To be held hostage by sheet music?
To never be able to sit down at a piano at a party with friends and belt out some good old sing along songs…the ones they always ask you to play?
Chances are you even avoid random pianos because it almost pains you to know you won’t be able to play anything.
All those years…
…thousands of dollars and upwards of a thousand hours practicing.
For what?
Its a tragedy for sure.
But all is not lost!
The truth is you have massive skills that are waiting to be unleashed. It’s kind of like Daniel Larusso in the Karate Kid movie.
His karate teacher Mr. Miaggi told him his training would consist of waxing cars, painting fences, and sanding his deck.
Daniel didn’t get it. But did it anyway.
Right up to the point where he was ready to quit. He was over it.
And thats when Mr Miaggi threw him into a fight and showed him how to use the skills from the work he had been doing.
All those movements became ways to block his opponent, which apparently is important to not getting your butt kicked.
The heartbreaking thing about traditional piano lessons is that they are a lot like Mr. Miaggi teachings except they never show you how to use the skills.
You end up quitting with a bunch of skills that never get unleashed. You simply keep painting the fence, sanding the deck, and washing the cars in the form of sheet music.
But I assure you underneath it all you have amazing skills that once revealed will allow you to be the life of any party playing the piano. No sheet music required.
It just takes some insight on how to look at the piano from a different angle. One that helps you see patterns, not notes. Progressions, not just lines of music.
Once your eyes are opened up to another way, there will be nothing holding you back.
It’s really that simple.
All you have to do is decide whether or not those years of lessons will be wasted.
Or instead be unleashed so you can finally play the piano freely and at will with all the skills you aren’t sure how to use yet.
