Okay here we go. Questions of the week.
Hit it!!
Question #1 from Jerry:
“Tim- If every chord has 3 Inversions, is there a tip for identifying these positions for playing or is it as simple as memorization. (For me, a painful process). I think if you’re following your M&M method, I would think that you would use the inversion the closest to your other hand? Don’t know if I make any sense with this question but wasn’t sure how to phrase it. Looking forward to your response. Thanks again.”
My Answer:
Yes.. Each chord has 3 inversions, but I wouldn’t worry about memorizing each of them. This happens over time when you start laying out chord progressions depending on what you need to accomplish with each song you are learning.
In other words, it’s comes naturally after you have done it with multiple songs.
I am not even sure I play all 3 chord inversions. Most likely just a few because I get used to what I like, finger positions, hand positions etc… But we go deep into this in the Layer Method program so you’re able to do it without thought.

Question #2 from Irene:
“On occasion,I have noticed that when a song is written, usually the very first chord of the song is the same as the Key. Coincidence or protocol?????”
The Answer:
Most times it is the first chord played. Lot’s of times it is the first chord in the chorus progression. And believe it or not, even the most advanced players aren’t necessarily sure which key a song is in unless someone tells them. They simply know which chords go together, the number system, and a couple other tricks we teach in the Layer Method.
And finally:
Question #3 from Paul:
“Do you have an expanded list of songs which I could subscribe to that would allow me to tinker around more with a larger assortment of songs ??”
hmmmm… not really. But the world is your oyster as they say.
When you go through the 8 Step Song Blueprint bonus course, (strategically placed right after module 2), you will see how to take any song and start to put it through this process. Break it down and start to learn the pieces of it. This skill is what makes anything possible. And we go into that in detail in the 8 Step Song Blueprint section!
Okay… That’s it.
You could be playing with one hand by tomorrow if you sign up today, two hands by next week:
