If I were to ask you to define music, what would you say?
(think for a second and see if you can come up with a definition)
Somebody asked me this just the other day and it really threw me off.
For instance, I teach piano, play guitar, some harmonica, and sing. But do I really know what the definition of music is?
But what this guy said really stuck out to me.
In fact, I am not sure I even came up with a definition.
But he sure had one.
And it’s a dandy.
(drum roll please…)
…A great definition for music is:
“Organized noise”
Now that makes sense!
Simple.
Concise.
Clear.
We need more of that in our world.
And the fact is a lot of people feel they aren’t real musicians because they have a terrible self defeating definition of what music should be and what a “real” musician should be.
All you have to do is change your definition and wallaaa!!! You’re now a real musician playing real music. 😉
I give you permission to do so, and promise you nothing bad will happen. There are no definition police running around so you won’t get in trouble.
But what will happen is you will be freed up to enjoy your own talents.
