Interesting thoughts from current student Scott.
If you already know how to read sheet music, then this is a must read. If you don’t read sheet music, you will be liberated from the thought of having to.
His words:
“I am having such fun with sheet music I love, but ONLY because I learned your method first. It make no sense to me to start with sheet music when it is not required to learn to play the piano with both hands by the Layer Method. Sheet music just complicates the process of learning to play the piano in the beginning and for most people it may never really be needed anyway. Keep up the great work.” D. Scott Stark, Architect
I don’t have very many students who do my method and then go on to learn sheet music.
But it makes sense.
Sheet music is the “next level” of piano playing. Most will never need nor want to go to that level. But for those who want to, maybe, just maybe learning the Layer Method first is actually the better route?
Starting with sheet music has been a disaster for the majority. Yes, I know some love it, but the majority quit. It’s just the facts. Period.
So here’s the point.
If you think in the back of your mind that you have always wanted to read sheet music, then maybe it’s time to start with the Layer Method first.
And who knows…
…maybe you will find out like thousands of others that you don’t really care about reading sheet music at all?
Either way, a great place to start is to get yourself playing with a simple framework that will show you step by step.
That’s how the Layer Method program is built.
And considering Scott is an architect he must know something about good frameworks 🙂
No more excuses. The Layer Method is step one to your piano playing journey.
