“come in like a love grenade, pull the pin and walk away”
That’s a line from my buddy Robert Deitch’s new song called, “Make a mess of my heart.”
Paints a picture don’t it?
I have pulled the pin one too many times in my life.
Thank the Lord I am married now.
Now the line would be, “Come in like an ol’ curmudgeon, pull the covers back and go to sleep.” lol…
Anyways…
Hearing that line made me think of sumthin.
Maybe this next week we should try to practice a little differently.
Instead of just 10-15 a day, how bout we blow it up for an hour.
Complete focus, no interruptions, flat out pull the pin and blow up our piano for a solid hour or more.
Fingers hurting, completely frustrated, then just get up and walk away.
Take 3 days off. Then come back and see what happens.
Try it.
It works.
Sometimes we need to really just say what the heck and try something a little different.
Daily practice is key.
But sometimes mixing it up does something with our brain that helps us advance.
So let me know how it goes.
And if you don’t know what to practice because you aren’t part of the Layer Method of Piano pprogram.
Then head on over yonder to learn to play piano by ear:
