I recently saw the movie Lucy.
Really good.
In a nutshell it’s about this gal who is kidnapped by drug lords who then decide she is going to be a delivery mule to transport these drugs overseas. So they rip open her stomach and place the bag of drugs inside her stomach. One problem. Some dude decides it would be a great idea to kick her a few times (in the stomach) to show his manliness. The bag then starts to leak, causing all kinds of havoc within her. But the unexpected result was that she was able to (eventually) access and use 100% of her brain. Most of us use less than 10% they say.
She could learn things at lightning speed.
She could manipulate people, objects and stretch time and space because to her, they didn’t exist.
She also said something that really stuck with me.
She said, “We (the unenlightened folks not like herself) only need a concept of time because we need the structure of time in order for it to make sense to those of us who only use 10% or less of our brains.
I totally get that. Kind of.
But the big lesson from this movie is this:
We could all be so much smarter if we could just get our hands on these drugs!
No really…
… If we were able to access even a smidge more of our brain, just think what we could do.
There was a study out recently talking about how playing an instrument can help solve, cure, or reduce effects of all the following:
depression
cancer
fatigue
anxiety
dementia
…and many more ailments.
Playing the piano (in my completely non medical opinion) helps you access just a little more of your brain than you did before.
Just think if you got really good.
Maybe you will be able to move objects around with just your mind!?
Well at least you can try.
But one thing is for sure. You will add more enjoyment and value to your life with music in it after you learn to play piano by ear!
