Ever wonder how playing guitar translates to piano? Karen will tell you in her words below:

I’m loving learning the piano with your method and actually feel like I’m going somewhere 🙂 I practice at least an hour or more every day because I LOVE playing piano.
I actually already had a songbook setup on chordie.com from learning to play guitar and just realized I can take those same songs in my book that I love and apply the Layer Method Of Piano to learn on the piano!!
I’m leaving for a three week vacation in our motorhome with four kids, from NC to CA and I’m looking forward to it but in a little bit of a panic that I won’t be able to practice everyday for three weeks…so afraid to loose what I learned or regress but I can always go back and start the program over if I do right!

You ever wonder why there are so many guitar players and so few piano players out there?
Heck you probably know lots of people who play guitar but very few who play piano. And if they play piano they probably are completely paralyzed without sheet music. There is a reason for this…
… the piano teaching world (when it was started) was set up for the elite. Owning a piano, taking lessons etc… was something that took money. And lot’s of it. But on the other hand you could find a bum in an alley playing the guitar. Whole different world.
But here’s the truth. Playing piano is much easier than playing guitar (at least for those who don’t care about being Beethoven), but traditional teachers don’t want you to know this. It cuts into their profit margin if you don’t have to come back for 10 years every week.
The guitar teaching industry allowed for the bums in the alleys to play their way, and the classical guitarists to play their way. They just accepted it.
The piano teaching industry said any way besides their way was wrong. They don’t accept it’s okay to just play piano, with songs you love, without reading sheet music or taking years of lessons.
That would mean you did it wrong.
Well…
…maybe they are right.
Maybe us bums are wrong.
Either way it doesn’t matter.
It’s up to you to decide what YOU WANT.
You want to play like Beethoven? Then set aside 20 years of your life to take lessons every week.
But if you just want to play songs you love and enjoy it, for the rest of your life?… Well then you need to sign up for the Layer Method of Piano.

One more thing.
Karen talked about worrying that she may lose all her progress when she goes on vacation.
That doesn’t happen with the Layer Method. You never lose it. You could take 10 years off and go straight back to playing what you know. It’s really like tying your shoe.
