I am not sure if I took our dog (Roxy) for a walk this morning…
…or if she took me.
Roxy is not the type of dog I would have picked for myself, far from it.
This little long haired Chihuahua has a serious little yapper on her.
She certainly struggles with little dog disease, but she came with the marriage.
And the fact is (despite all my efforts to the contrary)…
…I have grown to love her.
And this morning (as we were taking a walk) I got to thinking.
What if she thinks she is taking me for a walk?
You know, like showing off to all her dog friends in the neighborhood that she has one of these humans too. Her own little personal servant who will feed her, pick up after her (if you know what I mean), and make sure she is taken care of in every way.
I’m not sure who invented those 40 foot retractable leashes but I call that genius for sure.
And every walk is really the same, even though it’s different.
We pretty much take the same loop every time around the development.
And this got me thinking…
…It reminds me of song structures.
They are really all the same, even though they seem very different.
All made up of chords, progressions, and notes.
And once you understand this, have somebody show you how to look at songs differently,they become as easy to play as taking a walk around the patch.
In the Layer Method of piano we learn through songs, songs structures, and chord progressions. And once you “get it” you will go off on your own and learn whatever you want.
Is it simple?
Yes.
Is it easy?
No…
…takes practice, time (10-15 minutes a day), and desire.
