“Greetings Tim, Okay you have exposed me! LOL! I can play “Let it be” with no notes, sheet music, and virtually with no mistakes. (Both hands playing by themselves! wow! like you said) I even created an intro to the song and my wife is starting to sing along…..because she has the singing voice. Not me! LOL!
Now I need some of your words of wisdom here…….I’m sort of afraid to go to the next level because I don’t want to lose or forget what I have been studying for the last month and some days. Is this normal? Thanks,T… and be blessed!”
Terrance’s last question is what I want to address today.
He is afraid to move on because he is not wanting to lose what he has already learned.
I bet a lot of people feel like that.
But you need not.
Here’s the deal.
The Layer Method of Piano teaches skills in a way that you don’t lose them over time.
It’s not like sheet music that you must continually practice to be good at it.
You could literally take off years and still be able to play what you have learned with the Layer Method.
Does it mean you will be as good as when you stopped?
Of course not, but you won’t forget.
It’s almost impossible.
I don’t know all the reasons why this is true, it just is.
And that is part of the freedom of the Layer Method of Piano.
And why you don’t have to practice for hours a day for years to get good.
Terrances hands are moving all on their own now because he has stopped thinking about it and just let his mind and fingers work together to do what they have been trained to do.
It’s a blissful feeling.
You should try it.
Only if you want though.
