A good buddy of mine said something interesting the other day.
He said, “I’m not fat because of the hour I spend everyday in the gym. I’m fat because of what I do the other 23 hours a day.”
And his comment reminded me of a another conversation I had with a PianoFool student who was making all kinds of excuses for why they haven’t gotten around to practicing more.
They had to watch 3 hours of the show “The Bachelor” the other night. Lol…
Oh well.
Listen… I get it. I have my own self-discipline demons.
But the truth is…
…playing piano is easy.
Being self disciplined enough to make your dream come true is hard.
We all want INSTANT GRATIFICATION.
but that is not real life.
Unless you do drugs.
But when it comes to piano.
You need to earn it.
And when it only takes 10-15 minutes a day to learn, it’s not really that big of a commitment.
You don’t think you have 15 minutes a day?
Try writing down for a week everything you do in a day to the exact detail.
Then write down next to those activities the “value” you got from each one.
I guarantee it will be eye opening.
Then you can decide what’s important to you.
